Official Reopening of Pie-X Park, Laval (Chomedey)

Pie-X Park in Chomedey officially reopened to the public on June 20, following major renovation work to modernize its recreational, sports, and aquatic facilities.

The inauguration ceremony, held the previous day, welcomed Mayor Stéphane Boyer as well as Sandra El-Helou, city councillor for the Souvenir-Labelle district.

This $20 million transformation aims to provide residents with a renewed public space better suited to community needs. Begun in 2024 and completed in 2026, the project introduced numerous facilities for residents of all ages. Visitors will enjoy a swimming pool with splash pads and a wading pool, new children’s playground equipment, and a synthetic turf soccer field.

One of the main highlights is undoubtedly Laval’s very first covered refrigerated ice rink. During the winter season, the site will host ice sports enthusiasts, while in the summer, the space will convert into basketball and pickleball courts. Ping-pong tables and a skate ramp have also been added. Visitors will also have the opportunity to borrow sports equipment free of charge at the park pavilion, which has been modernized and equipped with gender-neutral changing rooms.

Safety and accessibility guided the design choices. The park features widened entrances, clearer pathways, well-lit trails, and improved signage.

The environment was not overlooked either. New trees and plants were added to expand the canopy, and new street furniture was installed to foster a welcoming, social atmosphere.
