The project leader assesses, plans, leads and monitors the work done on every construction project entrusted to him or her. Specifically, the incumbent:

  • Carries out every stage of a project's life cycle and ensures the achievement of all project objectives: costs, deadlines, scope, quality, customer satisfaction, etc.
  • Assesses opportunities
  • Identifies needs
  • Establishes the overall project plan and the detailed plan
  • Controls budgets
  • Produces progress reports
  • Assesses the risks, impacts and limitations of proposed solutions
  • Thoroughly manages risks
  • Effectively manages the project schedule
  • Keeps the team engaged in the achievement of common objectives
  • Manages customer relations and communications
  • Assesses the scope of change requests
  • Reports to the various committees and authorities involved
  • Coordinates development phase change activities
  • Collaboratively draws up bid documents, tender calls, letters of agreement and contracts involving outside suppliers
  • Performs all other tasks at his or her supervisor's request or required by the position
  • Is familiar with occupational health and safety laws
  • Has good knowledge of the building code
